Tax credits for affordable housing, waterfront developments coming to Pittsburgh

With the passage of a new revenue plan for FY 2016-2017, a number of tax credits have been awarded for housing and waterfront developments across the Pittsburgh region and the state.

Sen. Randy Vulakovich (R-Allegheny/Shaler) announced a waterfront tax credit based off of his SB 282, which encourages private investment in properties that create public access to waterfronts through a tax credit, was included as part of the revenue package signed into law Wednesday evening.

“The Waterfront Development Tax Credit will be a tremendous help in the future development of waterfronts across the Commonwealth,” said the senator. “The City of Pittsburgh has been revitalizing our waterfront where it has become the envy of other cities with riverfronts.”

“Many of the priorities that were priorities at the beginning of 2015 continue to be at the top of the list,” said caucus spokesperson Jenn Kocher.

At the top of that list is public pension reform legislation.
