DePasquale and Deluca unveil School Board and Administration Financial Reform Package

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale and Rep. Tony Deluca (D-Allegheny) joined together today to unveil a package of legislation known as the School Board and Administration Financial Reform Package.

The bills would help keep Pennsylvania school districts from future financial mishaps that force Pennsylvania taxpayers from bailing them out.

Recycling in Pennsylvania may not be dead, but industry professionals see a broken system that could be aided by state lawmakers in Harrisburg. 
 
Panelists representing the National Waste & Recycling Association, Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center, recycling company Agilyx and the Consumer Technology Association appeared before the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Wednesday to brief lawmakers on the state of recycling in Pennsylvania and urge legislators to fix the system and make it more convenient for Pennsylvania residents.

Philadelphia to host 2026 MLB All-Star Game

Elected officials and other luminaries joined members of the Philadelphia Phillies, past and present, at Independence Hall Tuesday for the public announcement of Major League Baseball awarding the franchise the 2026 All-Star Game.

Philadelphia will host the game as part of the city’s role in celebrating the country 250th birthday. The Phillies hosted the All-Star Game in 1976 at Veterans Stadium as part of the nation’s bicentennial.

House Republicans showcase steps forward in supporting crime victims

House Republican members joined in the Main Rotunda Wednesday to show their support for victims of abuse. 

The chamber has passed more than a dozen bills this month that House Republican's claim are related to supporting crime victims and abuse survivors. The House also acted in some fashion on all of the recommendations from the grand jury investigation that looked into the sexual abuse that was taking place in the Catholic Church. House Majority Leader Bryan Cutler(R-Lancaster) stated that by the end of today's session, all four recommendations will have passed through the house. He could not speak on what the Senate would do next.
