Rep. Bullock introduces “Safe Haven” bill

Rep. Donna Bullock (D-Philadelphia) introduced a bill in August that would ban guns and other dangerous weapons in public parks and recreation facilities.
 
The legislation, House Bill 1764, comes in the wake of multiple incidents at parks and other public areas during the summer. In Philadelphia, six were shot at a large cookout in a Southwest Philadelphia park over Father’s Day weekend.

With fund transfers set to end, legislators grapple with effects on State Police, roads

When fund transfers from the state’s Motor License Fund to support the Pennsylvania State Police end in 2028, one of the most controversial practices in state politics will come to a close.

Two distinct problems still face the commonwealth, however, which members of both parties readily acknowledge. When the fund transfers taper off, a mechanism for helping fund the State Police with minimal use of the General Fund will end as well, meaning lawmakers will have to come up with hundreds of millions of dollars in monies.
