Pittsburgh City Council hears 2030 plan proposal from PWSA officials

At Mayor Bill Peduto’s request last week, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority released a plan outlining what the next 12 years had in store.

As the city prepares its budget, water authority representatives testified to Pittsburgh City Council Monday of their plans for a billion dollars in infrastructure investment, which could require adding additional debt to the authority's balance sheet.

Local activists oppose partnership between PWSA and Peoples Natural Gas

Efforts by natural gas company Peoples Gas to partner with the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority has earned the ire of several activists and community leaders in recent weeks. So much so that grassroots advocacy group Our Water Campaign gathered in front of the company’s North Shore headquarters Wednesday morning to launch a petition against what it thinks will lead to the privatization of the PWSA.
