VIDEO: Four legislators created legislation that gives every PA worker paid family/medical leave

Senators Maria Collett (D-Montgomery), and Dan Laughlin (R-Erie), along with Representatives Wendi Thomas (R-Bucks) and Dan Miller (D-Allegheny), joined together to create the Family Care Act, which would establish a statewide Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program to provide paid leave for full- and part-time workers.

Funding for this program would come from a payroll deduction of 50 cents from every $100 earned by Pennsylvania workers, and a worker would receive 90 percent of up to $500 in a weekly paycheck and 50 percent of anything more than $500.

With Senate committee approval, redistricting proponents look to use momentum to prompt House action

A Senate panel voted Tuesday to approve the latest run at creating an independent redistricting commission, despite acknowledgements from the bill’s authors that it would require alteration before going before the full body.
