Legislators join activists in probation reform rally

Tuesday morning started with a big crowd of citizens and lawmakers filling the main rotunda’s staircase to draw attention to what they believe are onerous and harmful probation laws in Pennsylvania.

Members from both chambers and both parties showed support with FAMM, a national organization against mandatory minimums and the challenges created by punitive probationary rules. Joining the event was CNN commentator Van Jones, who has been involved with criminal justice reform efforts on his weekly program.

Bipartisan group of lawmakers pushes for Pennsylvania to join other states in reforming probation guidelines
