Supporters and skeptics gear up for Marsy's Law vote in November

November is set to bring fall colors, a cold snap or two and something Pennsylvania has not seen for many years--a contentious ballot initiative, as victims’ rights advocates look to enshrine Marsy’s Law into the state constitution.

 

The second consecutive session of passage for the proposal means it will now be up to voters to approve in November whether to constitutionally ensure crime victims are notified of court proceedings, are able to attend key hearings and generally treat the rights of victims as equal to those of defendants.

Marsy's Law garners support for Pennsylvania crime victims to have constitutional rights

Marsy’s Law for Pennsylvania kicked off it’s campaign Tuesday to amend Pennsylvania’s constitution to strengthen crime victims’ rights. 


The national campaign strives to amend state constitutions to include specific provisions to provide protections for victims whose cases are ongoing.
