VIDEO: Down Syndrome Protection Act brought back up for the new session

Speaker of the House Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) was vocal during last year's session about legislation he co-sponsored that would ban abortion that is due solely on the fact that a baby has Down syndrome.

With this Thursday being World Down Syndrome Day, a handful of legislators, advocates and families affected by Down syndrome joined to support the Down Syndrome Protection Act. This session, Turzai, Rep. Kate Klunk (R-York) and Sen. Scott Martin (R-Lancaster) are bringing this act back up with more supporters and they believe it will pass through both chambers smoothly. Last session the legislation passed through the House with a 139-56 vote but it stalled when it got to the Senate.
